Dear Mr. Beaudry:
On behalf of the contemporary Art Center of Virginia I wish
to thank you for joining us as one of the sponsors of the 2001
Boardwalk Art Show. Without the support of our business community
the show would not enjoy the excellent national reputation it
now has, nor would it be as successful. The Boardwalk Art Show,
as you know, is our biggest special event of the year, and its
success enables us to continue serving the community by improving
and expanding the exhibition and education programs that are
the heart of the Center's mission.
We are very grateful for our continuing relationship with Onyx
and for the excellent work you've always done for us. It's good
to know that such an important aspect of the event is in good
hands, and we always know when Onyx is there all will be well.
We've put a few items together for you as small tokens of our
appreciation and as mementos of the '01 show. Please enjoy.
Sincerely,
Sharon Tanner, Director
Boardwalk Art Show

Dear Friends and Colleagues in
Ministry,
What an uplifting and wonderful
time of worship we all had at the last Presbytery meeting! The
Worship Ministry Unit had read Tex Sample's book earlier this
fall and decided to illustrate what they had learned in the
worship service. Fortunately, PEVA found two wonderful resources:
Bill Ricketts from Second Norfolk, who volunteered his help
and connected us to ONYX Engineering; and the music team from
First Norfolk, led by Steve Kolb. We just can't say enough about
the generous donation of time, expertise and service from these
folks, who made the worship time such an inspiration. Bill introduced
the ONYX company owner, Tom Beaudry, to the worship planning
team. At this meeting, the team was informed about what kinds
of things could be done and how to do them. As if that wasn't
enough, the company donated the rental of all the visual and
sound equipment (screens, projectors, lenses, microphones, speakers
and sound board), as well as two days labor which included setting
up, being present at the meeting, and taking down. They were
GREAT TO WORK WITH! These folks were responsive to the need
for a worshipful space, and creative in offering suggestions
to those of us who are beginners in this field of technology.
As a Presbyterian himself, Bill Ricketts has worked with his
own church's sound and recording capabilities, and has indicated
his willingness to consult with our PEVA churches about technological
needs, sound systems, and equipment rental or purchase.

Dear Mr. Beaudry:
I wanted to take time to let you
know what a wonderful first experience I had with Onyx Engineering.
Recently, I was working on a large project with Albemarle Hospital
and needed audio visual resources for a public meeting in North
Carolina. Ironically, Dave Cusick from Albemarle Hospital made
the initial phone call to your company to inquire about a projection
screen.
I began working with Jeff Hathaway
on Thursday, August 6 for resources I would need for Wednesday,
August 12. From our first conversation Jeff was focused on my
needs and how he could make our presentation the best possible,
even given the limited time constraints I gave him. Initially
we were going to use our own InFocus system, but after talking
with Jeff he explained how his projection system could do rear
projection and would make the presentation better and easier
to see from the back of an auditorium.
Because the presentation was so
important and I was a little out of my elements with my limited
knowledge of Power Point presentations and InFocus projections,
I was very nervous about how the presentation would turn out.
Also given the fact that neither Jeff nor I had seen the school
in Manteo, North Carolina, I had him prepare for all types of
scenarios.
Jeff is definitely an asset to
your company and is very knowledgeable about his field. Once
we were able to setup at the school, Jeff quickly assessed the
situation and knew which equipment would work best, took care
of the lighting, etc. I quickly felt assured all would work
out fine because I had Jeff there.
I just wanted to let you know
what a great employee you have and certainly feel Jeff pulled
me through a tough presentation. In today's market place employees
like Jeff are hard to find and keep and thought it was important
to send you a letter letting you know what a great job he did.
I've passed his name, as well
as the company's, along to many of my peers in the corporate
office of Sentara.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Vikki Camp

RE: First Presbyterian Church, Norfolk Sanctuary Audio System
Dear Joe:
On behalf of the Administrative Committee, I want to thank
you for a job well done. We have received numerous compliments
on the clarity of the new sound system. The system is integrated
into the historic sanctuary so well that many members have had
to be shown where the speakers are located. You addressed all
of our concerns and we are very pleased. Once again, thank you
for a job well done.
Sincerely,
Paul G. French
Chair
